Moro East - Promotional seeding films

Promotional seeding films
June 2009
To help promote the new Moro cookbook, Moro East, Moro Head Chef Aron Paramor and myself came up with the idea of creating several seedable films featuring the writers of the book and founders of Moro, Sam and Sam Clarke demonstrating some of the recipes filmed at the East London Allotment where the book is set.

The book itself is both a celebration and tribute to the influence on the Sam's cooking, inspired by the many different generations of Mile End gardeners, as well as the mutlitude of different cultures who use the allotment..

Unfortunatley, within a few days of getting the green thumbs up from the Sam's, it was announced that the Manor Garden Allotment, was going to be bulldozed to make way for a road between the Olympic velodrome and the swimming pool.

This gave me a week to pull the kit and crew together, with the added thought that we only had literally one shot at this before the allotment was flattened, and what we shot on that last day, would be probably be the last document of a critical part of East End London

Our one day of shooting was conducted amidst residents dismantling their beloved plots and sheds and weather fluctuating between torrential rain and blazing sun, we somehow managed to document the Sam's create an amazing feast from stuff they literally pulled out of the ground around them.

At the end of a very long and tiring day, we all sat down with the last of the residents and enjoyed a final meal in the communal cooking area.

The films were placed on the Guardian, Telegraph and Times online, also on the Ebury Press channel on Yotube, Amazon, Waterstones and Ch-4 online.
